Research 2.0

Being a fan of what I like to call “random, irrelevant knowledge” I follow a variety of sites and channels that talk, teach and show a diverse amount of topics.
These sites are: TEDTalks, TED-Ed, Button Poetry, Proper Slob and Brain Pickings. And here are some of the links I was watching and reading that focus in on the topic of “love”.

TEDTalks

TED-Ed

Spoken Word Poetry (Button Peotry/Proper Slob)

Brain Pickings

Why We Fall in Love: The Paradoxical Psychology of Romance and Why Frustration Is Necessary for Satisfaction

How to Love: Legendary Zen Buddhist Teacher Thich Nhat Hanh on Mastering the Art of “Interbeing”

Anaïs Nin on Real Love, Illustrated by Debbie Millman

Susan Sontag on Love: Illustrated Diary Excerpts

Albert Camus on Happiness and Love, Illustrated by Wendy MacNaughton

The Heart and the Bottle: A Tender Illustrated Fable of What Happens When We Deny Our Difficult Emotions

Some of these are quite interesting, others not so much. In the TED-Ed links, I recommend the first link “Why Do We Love”. In the Spoken Word links, I recommend the second link down “OCD” for it is quite a powerful and moving piece of poetry that perfectly captures longing and heartbreak. In Brain Pickings, picking a favourite is actually quite tough because they’re all worth the read. Okay, I recommend the last one “The Heart and the Bottle” for it is an illustrated children’s story with interactivity included (besides it is read by Helena Bonham Carter, which is just awesome).
